This gown is named after the Scottish heroine Elsie Inglis. A pioneering doctor and suffragist, she was the founder of Scottish Women’s Hospitals established in 1914. These women run hospitals offered opportunities to medical women who were prevented from entry to the Royal Arms Medical Corps, and during the war years saved hundreds of thousands of lives.
